So, I've been busy designing a few things...
Creating a few custom things...
And road-trippin' it to DC and the University of Maryland with a few college students for an amazing conference...
Hanging out with Ab. He's so honest. And I need to get out in the sun more.
We spent a day sightseeing, as none of the students had been to DC before. (And the last time I went was at least eight! years ago.) It was t-shirt weather and cloudy, a wonderful day.
I'm pretty sure there's some metaphor in here - seeing the reflections of today's Americans in the names of fallen soldiers.
We ate at some delicious restaurants in this hip, cute little area.
Oh, and I've officially fallen head-over-heels obsessed with fabric...
I usually try to spend around seven dollars or less a yard for fabric, but this was just too great. Mmm, I could stare at it all day. If only I had more time to sew. Le sigh.
Also in News: I am officially an old lady. How do I know?- I called two of the students in the hotel room next to me when I heard some creepy-sounding men in the hallway late at night: "Don't let any strangers in your room, okay?" She just laughed at me.
- The 19-year-old's driving made me white-knuckled. The Pennsylvania turnpike is far too curvy to be taken at those speeds.
- Getting emotional at the Vietnam and Lincoln memorials. What happened to me?
- I'd rather drive safely than get arrive more quickly. Totally an old lady.
- Every time I heard an ambulance siren at night, I fretted that it was one of my students. I fear what would happen if I had children. I'd have to off myself if I turned out to be an anxious, overprotective mother. Seriously.
Yes, apparently I am more scared of being forced to eat chicken then, you know, being MURDERED. According to my dream self, "It's just so...pale and...fleshy!" Yum.
I love that blue fabric!
ReplyDeleteDid the bride mean to spell hooray wrong, or am I missing something?
your pictures are so beautiful...i really love the picture of the "cute, hip" area.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the reflection in the Vietnam Memorial, there's a poem about that very phenomenon, but the name of it escapes me. Now I'll have to go search for it...
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the old lady club. I'm the ripe age of 28, but I knit and I much prefer a cup of tea to a cocktail.
Okay, found it! In case you were dying to know. It's called "Facing It."

Your picture is cuute :) Join the white club! I love love love Ikea fabric...I always look for it on ebay for cheap :) Lol @ the chicken comment, that was too funny. Hope you have a safe trip!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the new designs you have been working on. They're all so fun! And that trip to D.C. sounds fabulous -- I haven't been there in at least 8 years, either. Crazy!
ReplyDeleteI said it over at Maggie's, but I'll say it again: nice work!
ReplyDeleteI disagree, the PA Turnpike was built for speed! Not that you ever can because there's always construction. :)
And my Mexican relatives live on a street whose name translates (in part) to "chickens"! Best wishes for safe and fun travels.
those designs are AWESOME!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you had fun in DC!
You are so stinking cute and crafty!
ReplyDeleteWhen you get to Juarez, just make sure you know the fastest ways back into El Paso, and do all the obvious safety things. Avoid cash for sure, and don't let anyone drink. Now who sounds like the overprotective anxious mom? Haha. But yeah, be safe!
You have been busy! And Ash totally LOVED the coffee sleeves; I can't thank you enough for putting those together so quickly for me! Seriously, she just about died when she opened them and I've gotten two emails today telling me how she's using them and how much she loves them. You are fantastic on a million levels!
ReplyDeleteKeep your head about you in Juarez, which I know you will. You'll be ok!
Gorgeous fabric. I wish I knew how to sew. I'm going to have to put that on my to do list.
ReplyDeleteI noticed the other day how pale I am now that it's sunny out. And then today the boyfriend pointed it out. Gee Thanks. haha
Take me with you to Mexico! And sew me a thousand things in those fabrics!
ReplyDelete(I'm so needy, no?)
I bet all of this sight seeing and traveling is really good for your soul, huh? :) Miss you around these parts lady!
ReplyDeleteAhh looks like fun. I'd love to go back to DC. CUTE designs too. Glad I could at least keep up with you on twitter, doesn't feel like you've been gone so long that way!
ReplyDeleteThe new designs are great and the fabric is FAB!
ReplyDeleteI love that fabric too. It is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had fun in DC- although according to your stats- I am an old lady too! = ) (but I already knew that)
Be careful in Mexico!
You are so talented! And the D.C. trip sounds fun--we're hoping to hit it up this summer and you've gotten me all excited for it now :)
ReplyDeletecan i just say that you have an amaaaazzzzing bod?
ReplyDeletejealous. you are too adorable with your peace sign :D
I love the picture of the wall of names, i remember going there as a kid but looking back I obviously didn't understand the enormousness of it all...yeah that not a word but yaknow ;) I can't wait to take my kids on trips & show them places like this!
I LOVE the blog header you designed, I think i might need you to do a blog design for me when I get sick of the one i have!!
the comments about how you have become an old lady cracked me up!!!! LOL i love it. and you!
I love your designs! You are so talented!
ReplyDeleteOh I so know how you feel about turning into an old lady! I fear more things now than I did when I was younger, including (and especially) scary movies. I fret about horrible accidents happening to my 2 dogs. I relive old embarrassments over and over again while I lay awake at night. I delight in a clean house and cooking good food for company. Who is this person that I've become???? ....at any rate, at least I like her!
ReplyDelete:)
Oh, and I seem to cry at the drop of a hat too. At sad things, mostly involving animals and small children.
