The Anatomy of A Good Date.

As an old married couple*, Mike and I tend to count a Trader Joe's trip and an Ugly Betty (What? Don't judge.) DVD marathon as a good Friday night date. Throw in a frozen pizza, and we're pretty much in heaven. It's not that we don't love trying new restaurants or getting all prettied up, it's just that it's so convenient to stay in comfy yoga pants and curl up on the couch.

In an effort to break out of our hermit-like tendencies and explore more of the awesome food that Cleveland has to offer (Um, have you seen Alexa's list? I salivate just reading it, people.) and check another one off the 101 List - I planned a date night this Friday to an adorable little restaurant.

The Letter P.

[More will be posted on my review blog about the actual food - but here is a little teaser for you....]
Amazing.
My poison? Roasted seasonal vegetables, melted brie, crisp green apples, local honey, and caramelized onions, served on a toasted pita.

Dream Cream.
And a Dream Cream, please.

I'd planned to explore the antique shops and huge, used book store in the neighborhood - but it turns out they all close early in the evening. Disappointed but undeterred, we chose plan B: Scrabble, yoga pants, and some guitar serenading.

Scrabble.
(Just how ridiculous we are when we play Scrabble is a whole other post. You have no idea. It's passive-aggressively delightful.)

Guitar

*Okay, so maybe we've only been for nearly two years. And we're still in our twenties. But we definitely display symptoms of Old Married Couple Syndrome.

  1. Ha, I'm exactly like you with dates, if we're spending a couple hours snuggled up on the couch watching something we both like then I'll call that a win. Good for you guys for getting out there, and oh! That restaurant looks so cute! Glad you guys had a good night out :)

  4. That's pretty much a date night for us too, except substitute Whole Foods, because we are unlucky enough to not have Trader Joe's.

We slip out every now and then to go to new places, but 7 times out of 10, we end up going to our favorite Tex-Mex joint!

  5. We go on Target dates all the time. They are generally followed up with TV on DVD and pizza. You are not alone!

  6. We're not even married, and our dates are equally boring :)

Oh, and we're super aggressive, competitive Scrabble players. Actually, any game players. My parents think we hate one another when we play games :) We just like winning!

  8. If Mister took me to a Trader Joes I think I would be so excited about it from reading about it on your and Steph Corwin's blogs all the time that it wouldn't be a date, it would be an event I would probably have to scrapbook afterward!

That being said, this sounds perfect. Mister and I have fallen in love with an amazing semi-quick service place 10 mins from our house and have started biking to it on the weekends. Followed by some furious games of Yahtzee, I'm pretty much in heaven.

  11. My husband and I try to go out sometimes, but lately, we've been staying in. It's so much cozier, and we don't have to spend a long time driving to wherever we want to go.

(We express old married couple symptoms, too.)

  19. You could have described us with that first sentence. Except that T would complain if I made him watch Ugly Betty. But something else for sure. But I love how special it feels going out for dinner every now and again. And those photos are lovely.

  25. I wasn't hungry before I read this post. After seeing that food, I am STARVING. Major yum!

We do dates like y'all, too, and we aren't even married. While it's nice to spend time at home in yoga pants and pajamas, it's also nice to go out every once in a while!
