Devils in Disguise

black heels

Unassumingly, yet insanely, painful.

It hardly matters whether they're one, two, or three inch heels. Or kitten heels, or even loafers! I'm left with raw, red little toes, over half a dozen blisters, and heels that require bandages.

Help.

My feet look awful and I can hardly stand to walk. I find every excuse to wear my [one] pair of flats. Is there some secret I'm missing? Some special shoe insert I don't have? Some magic spell I don't know?

When I asked a girlfriend, she shrugged and said, "They just hurt, but I wear them anyway."

Tell me there's another way!

  1. Wah! If you find out, please let me know! I wear flats 99.9 percent of the time. I can't handle heels! As soon as I slip them on they hurt! Ouchie! Wedges, platforms, one, two, three inches - you name - just like you said, I'm in pain! :(

  2. Have you tried wedges? That's what I've been wearing lately and they don't hurt my feet at all.

  3. Yeah, they just hurt. I found a couple of great kitten heeled shoes at Target that didn't hurt... so I bought them in every color.

  4. Have you tried going to Nordstrom's and having your feet measured and buying quality heels? There's a reason some are more expensive than others... and once you can see how they are *supposed* to fit, you can then start seeking out lesser-priced options. Most of the year, I wear stilettos or Chuck Taylors or sandals, and that's it. I'm only in pain if I've been on my feet for hours and hours. Good luck!

  5. get high quality shoes from Marshall's... preferable the kind that strap in the back instead of having a heel that digs in. If it's a 2 inch heel or so there's no reason they should hurt. Make sure you're buying them big enough?

and then call me, stranger. :)

  6. I have a couple of pairs of heels that I wear constantly that don't bother my feet...Cole Haan and Franco Sarto. I love them and they have lasted me a really, really longtime!

  8. i think your friend is right, they just hurt. the few times that i've been able to find comfy heals resulted in me wearing them so much that they were bit up pretty quickly. My feet probably hate me because i wear them anyway!

  9. Some of the most comfortable heels I own are Nine West brand. They feel so good on my feet. And most of the time, I wear flats.

However, some shoes really ARE painful.

  10. Band Aid Blister Block works wonders for heels that rub. Also, go for a chunkier heel or wedge so your foot is more stable. Also find a brand you like and stick to it. Franco Sartos and Cole Haan are great as someone else said.

  11. there's a bit more pain when you wear them with stockings ...your feet slip around more in them ....but yes, after standing in them for a while, they all hurt!

  12. Shoes like that are always insanely painful the first time you wear them. And nylons are tough too. Don't fret, it will get better. You can get a pad from Dr. Scholls or Tulip (I think that's it) that's a better pad.

  13. Hello my love... I will put in my two cents on the heel issue and declare that unfortunately, the more expensive the shoe is, the better it feels when you wear it. I got a pair of black dress boots from Meijer a few years ago for $20 that hurt like the dickens, and they were such a versatile shoe that I wore them constantly. The next time I buy black boots (as has been my mission for some time now), I am going to have to buy quality, for the sake of my wee toes. And I'll agree with other commenters in saying that stockings make shoes hurt worse. END rant!

  14. Wow okay I don't know when mine stopped hurting, but absolutely no heels that I wear now hurt. None. I am wearing 3 1/2 inchers today and they feel great. I actually would argue against straps because they can dig in. I usually wear pumps. And I would agree, stockings hurt more.

  15. I am probably one of the few people that can wear 4 inch heels and not have my feet hurt. In fact, my feet hurt more when I am in flats. All I can say is that it takes years and years of training your feet.

The thing is, I bet your feet are still soft and blister free, so your feet can still feel the affects of the shoes. My feet on the other hand are so rough that nothing can penetrate the layers. haha.

I also am an advocate of expensive shoes. Although I do have a few pair of Jimmy Choo's that I can only wear for a few hours at a time, the majority of my designer shoes, I can wear the entire day. Expensive shoes do make a difference.

p.s. I am officially addicted to your blog! thanks for coming to visit mine. adding you to my blogroll!
