I've completed my first goal on my list!
It all happened so quickly - I got there, signed a form, and excused myself to the bathroom. (Where I dropped my credit card in the toilet. Yeah. Good times.) I came out from the bathroom and there the piercer was, just waiting for me.
"Can I go get my husband?" I asked sheepishly.
"Sure! Wait...no, I'm sorry, only you are allowed in here."
"Oh, well I guess I'll just surprise him!"
It did hurt. (Quite a bit.) But only at first, now it's fine. Except when I think about the fact that a small hollow needle took part of my nose.
Then I'm sort of grossed out.
But I LOVE it! Initially, I'd expected to only keep it four weeks before my job at a school starts. But I'm already contemplating getting some sort of invisible stud so that I can keep it.
And I can I just say for second how much I stick out like a SORE thumb at a tattoo parlor? (Are they still called parlors? See? I DON'T EVEN KNOW!) The heavy metal, the insanely tattooed men, the half-naked tattoo drawings on the wall (Mike was all, "Look! It's a fairy riding a butterfly!"), the bachelor pad-like atmosphere (the guy even said, "Sorry the bathroom is so dirty!" before I went in. Dude.).
And on to other goals - instead of taking a trip to the Smoky Mountains, we've decided to take a trip across the country. (We're spontaneous like that.) We're in verrry preliminary planning stages - but it looks as if we'll be driving from the 18th to the 30th from Ohio to LA and back, stopping in Las Vegas, Denver, Flagstaff, Albuquerque, the Grand Canyon, and more.
July 2009, seriously, I love you.

July 2009, seriously, I love you.
congrats on doing it! it looks really cute! i'm glad i was allowed to have my friend with me when i got my eyebrow pierced, there's no way i would have been able to handle that big needle by myself.
ReplyDeleteand that roadtrip sounds amazing! j and i are trying to save up for one from somewhere on the east coast to somewhere on the west coast, and then stay there for a few days before coming back. roadtrips are always fun.
have a good weekend!
Roadtrips are awesome!! Especially cross country ones....
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! Sounds like you had fun :)
ReplyDeleteSO ADORABLE! I have my nose pierced and I LOVE it. Yours is SO cute. And I think your July should include a trip To Minne. Or maybe that'll be August... yes, August 2009 will be just as fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI freaking LOVE it. I bought a little teensy tiny stud at the Icing that was barely visible. I wore it for family occasions with the super conservatives. I'm talking small enough to pull through the hole (don't sleep with the small one in!). Beware of super big boogers. Sorry, it's true.
ReplyDeleteYour roadtrip sounds SO exciting! That's on my bucket list. Maybe not this summer but eventually.
So cute!! It looks great- and I totally recommend you get an invisible stud so you can keep it. I had to take mine out twice, and every time there's a little more scar tissue. Which means it sucks a LOT more to have it re-pierced. If you like it, keep it =)
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your road trip! I definitely want to do that some day...hopefully someday soon!
I moved to LA from Ohio in December and drove cross country, it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love it; it looks so good on you!
ReplyDeleteAnd that roadtrip is perfect! Are you driving from Vegas to the grand canyon? Because you'll also pass the hoover dam. Maybe you could take a dam tour. (Vegas Vacation quote? Anyone?) But you better believe when you get to LA, I am driving my booty down there to meet you. Just let me know which days you are planning to be in LA.
Awww, now Smokies? I live in the smokies! However, going to LA and the Grand Canyon would be fun.
ReplyDeleteLove the piercing!
I am so proud of you!!! You did it!!! :] It looks so great on you; you have the perfect nose for it. :]
ReplyDeleteLooks AWESOME!!! Congrats girl!
ReplyDeleteAnd we will be right on your heels on the out west trip! We are doing the exact same thing, in three weeks! I can't stand it I'm so excited for you. I feel like we are living parallel lives or something. :)
SO cute! You have the perfect nose for a piercing. I love it!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so cute!! Out of a tongue piercing, a variety of ear piercings, a belly button piercing and a fairly large tattoo, my nose piercing hurt the most!! It was a very quick decision for me as well - my best friend and I were in Germany and she said "I kinda wanna pierce my nose" and my response was "I'll do it if you do it" and then it was done.
ReplyDeleteI've picked up clear "placeholders" at Claire's and those have worked okay - they're just a little harder to put in than metal. I've also used fishing line in a pinch...
oh it looks so good! i've been contemplating that for a while, but i wear glasses so not sure how that would work...
ReplyDeletei had my lip pierced in my early twenties and it grossed me out soooooo much that the needle was hollow... it still kinda grosses me out when I think about it.
i love road trips!!! my hubby and i are going to vegas for a little over a week, in two weeks (!!!) and while we're there we're going to rent a car and drive around to the surrounding states as much as we can.
hope your trip is amazing!
Oooh I like it!
ReplyDeleteOh hurrah! Your piercing looks awesome! I was contemplating a facial piercing too, but alas I'm customer facing and I don't know how stable my job would be if I got one done. You look great though, yay! :)
ReplyDeleteVery daring, Ashley! (I mean the bathroom part--hee hee, they apologized about it.)
ReplyDeleteOhmygosh, I'm SO EXCITED that i might get to meet you ashley-veggie!!!!! YAYYYYY!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour road trip sounds amazing!
Congrats on having the guts to pierce your nose! Very cute, lady! I love my nose piercing - when I worked in a restaurant and jamba juice I just took it out during my shift and then put it back in afterwards. (It did kind of close up in just a few hours and hurt putting it back in, so you might want to actually get the clear stud.)
Color me jealous! I had my noise pierced for about a year, had to take it out for work. Not a day goes by where I don't miss mine.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your road trip. It sounds like an adventure!
Yay that's awesome!! I am torn between wanting to get mine pierced or not... I wouldn't have to take it out for work, but I just dont know! I just took my belly button ring out though, so maybe I'll get that done to replace it!
ReplyDeleteYou look so great! And how cute were the tattoo guys to you. Precious. I've always sort of wanted one, but not bad enough to go get one, you know?
ReplyDeleteI hope I get to meet you when you're in LA.
It really is adorable! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I've always wanted to get my nose pierced, but have never had the guts to do it. It looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteThe nose stud doesn't look as though it is standing out too much so I think you will be fine with it (and remember you need to keep the original stud in for 6 weeks to let the hole heal without healing over)
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! Go you!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so cute, lady!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited about your trip! We did a road trip when we got married -- we pretty much hit all the places you're hitting (except ABQ), so let me know if you need any tips or suggestions! If you can, try to fit in Sequoia National Forest/Kings Canyon. Also, we are headed to the Smoky Mountains next week along with Savannah, Charleston and the Outer Banks. I love July, too!
ReplyDeleteoh yay it looks really cute on you. love it.
ReplyDeleteLove love love the sparkle on your nose. Greatest ever. :) As I've said before, one of my goals this summer is to get mine pierced, and I'm totally going to wig out over it but I know I'll love it once it's done.
ReplyDeleteAaaaand we're meeting up when you're in LA, right? Seriously. There are quite a few LA bloggers that would flip out if they got the chance to meet you and your pretty face. (Myself included.)
Nice!
