Six is the best number ever.
I decided this when I was six-years-old, of course, but it's worked wonderfully for 18 years. You see, until I was six, my favorite number each year was my age. First, Bert introduced me to the wonderfulness that is the number six. Then, I counted the letters in my first name: A-s-h-l-e-y. Six. And the letters in my last name: W-a-g-n-e-r. Six.
And my fate was sealed. I firmly decided I would never change my favorite number again. (Six-year-olds make Very Important decisions and commitments, obviously.)
My softball number was a six and number I pick without fail for everything is the beautiful six. For a long time, I wanted six kids. (We'll see about that.) Mike even proposed to me with SIXteen riddles, because my love for six is so strong. I honestly get warm, fuzzy feelings when I think about how wonderful six has been to me.
An adorable side effect of my six-love has been my youngest sister loving six, as well. Her choosing the number six is the same as saying, "I love you, big sister. You are the best."
And to those who told me in elementary school that six was the "Devil's favorite number," I am OBVIOUSLY not a devil, thank you.
Please, tell me I'm not the only one who has a favorite number.
And, if you don't have one already, I have one I'd like to suggest...

This IS a critical issue. I am a fan of 6 as well, but I just really love 9. I always have, and I don't think it is just because Elizabeth has nine letters, haha!
ReplyDeleteI like 14, and if it has to be a single digit, then it's 4. I think I developed this in junior high. There was more than one reason, but I remember a cute soccer player at my school was #14 :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband has friends who are obsessed with 5. Both of their names (Jason and Angie) have 5 letters, they got married May 5, 2005, and apparently the number 5 has been very good to them.
Kitkat and I are on the exact same page. 14 is my number but I usually just shorten it to 4. My birthday, after all, is 4/14.
ReplyDeleteVery important things here.
Can't say I really have a favorite number.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is 7. And not because it's "lucky." I was born on the seventh. I use it in every password, pin number, etc.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite number is 12, but that's because I had a crush on a guy who played baseball and his number was 12. Yeah, I'm lame haha. It's served me well though. :)
ReplyDeletesixx? like blossom's friend?
ReplyDeleteheehee
my fav number is 14...it's weird to see that it's other people's fav number too! My bday is on the 14th and half of 14 is 7 which is my birth month. My bball number was always 14 when I played :D
ReplyDeleteMine's always been 8, or a variation of 8, like 18. I honestly have no idea why.
ReplyDeleteI was born on the 13th and 13 is probably my favorite number... I like to think it's actually lucky, not unlucky.
ReplyDeleteHowever, whenever someone asks me to pick a random number or I use some number to exaggerate the amount of something, I almost always say 37. No idea why. Guess that's my backup number. :-)
Six, without a doubt, is my favourite number too. :) Was born on the sixth of June - if you had any of those "number of the devil" comments, I think I've had more.
ReplyDeleteEspecially when I turned 19 on 06/06/06. What a wonderful day, I was so chuffed. :)
Anyway, my brother was born on the sixth. We live at number six, and the number has always been lucky to us.
So, Ashley, you're not alone :) Six is totally an awesome number.
This is too funny! I wonder if it's your life path number. My life path number is 8, so I'm very partial to number 8 :)
ReplyDelete6 is my favorite too! I'm not sure when I decided it, but it was definitely well before middle and high school becasue all of my sports numbers have always been 6. It is great. I once made a huge 3 ft. papermache (sp?) 6 in art class!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite number is 8. I think it's so lovely and round and wholesome. Plus, when you turn it on its side, it's the infiniti symbol (bet you've heard that before haha). I'm not sure if I want to have 8 kids, but hey... if that's what it comes down to... and OH MY! I just counted the number of letters in my last name and YES, there are 8. Fate, as we know it.
ReplyDeleteThen you'll love this: last night at the bookstore, I rang up a purchase whose total was $6.66--perfect, right?
ReplyDeleteI don't have a favorite number, but my sister and I have the same number day for our birthdays (different months and years, of course).
If I had to pick a favorite number, it would be 5 because my birthday is 5/5. And so then my 5th birthday was my Golden Birthday. But I'm ridiculously superstitious or something about 1123. Whether it's 11:23 o'clock, or the number 11 or the number 23.
ReplyDeleteThese books would be perfect for you since you love the number 6!!! You've probably heard of them?
